Community Games 2013

Following the success of last year’s Community Games, Lancashire Sport and Young Lancashire are once again  teaming up to support this initiative in 2013 across Lancashire by offering grants of £250 to help support your Community Games event.

Clore Poetry and Literature Awards

in

The fifth round of the Clore Poetry and Literature Awards aims to provide young people under the age of nineteen with the opportunity to experience poetry, literature, and creative writing both inside and outside of school, in compelling and exciting forms. Grants ranged from £1,000 to £10,000, and the total project costs must not exceed £20,000. The deadline for applications is 5pm on Wednesday 1 May 2013. Visit: www.cloreduffield.org.uk

Technology4Good

in

 The Technology4Good Awards are designed to recognise organisations and individuals who use digital technology to improve the lives of others. Sponsored by BT, the awards are free to enter. The eight categories showcase areas of expertise such as accessibility, volunteering, innovation, digital skills, community action and digital giving. Children in Need

in

BBC Children in Need supports organisations that work with disadvantaged children and young people in the UK. Small Grants of up to £10,000 are available for one year and 2013 deadlines are: 1 April 2013; 1 June 2013; 1 September 2013; and 1 December. Main Grants of over £10,000 are available to support projects for up to three years and 2013 deadlines are: 15 May 2013; and 15 September 2013. Visit: www.bbc.co.uk

Grants for Young People

Carnegie UK has launched a new plan to apply new ideas and young minds to the towns challenge. ‘TestTown' is a new competition for young people throughout the UK aged between 16 and 25 to put forward their own ground-breaking ideas to redesign the future UK high street. Ernest Cook Trust

The Ernest Cook Trust offers grants between £100 and £50,000; most awards range from £4,000-£10,000. It supports land-based learning for children and young people and projects wishing to encourage young people's interest either in the countryside and the environment or the arts (in the broadest sense) or aiming to raise levels of literacy and numeracy. Youth heritage projects

The Heritage Lottery Fund has re-launched its Young Roots grants programme, aimed at providing young people aged between 11 and 25 years-old with active roles in planning and delivering their own heritage projects. The programme, with an annual budget of £4million, now awards grants of between £10,000 and £50,000. Young Roots is a rolling programme, meaning you can apply anytime. Sports funding programme for schools

Prime Minister David Cameron has announced £150 million a year to "improve coaching for the youngest pupils and inspire the Olympic and Paralympic stars of the future". It will provide a lump sum for each school of ‘ring-fenced' funding that's only to be spent on sport. The proposals include a greater role for Britain's best sporting and voluntary organisations, including National Governing Bodies. It will continue funding of the Young Ambassador programme with 2,500 new Ambassadors to be trained.

Community Budgets network

Local Government Minister Brandon Lewis has announced a new multi-agency network "to help transform public services at a local level". The network aims to spread lessons learned from Community Budgets.
