The Kelly Family Charitable Trust is interested in funding charities whose activities involve the whole family in initiatives that seek to tackle problematical issues that face one or more of its members, and whose aims include the strengthening of family bonds by helping all elements of the family unit to grow together and support each other. Grants will typically be between £1,000 and £5,000.

Sports clubs

Cash 4 Clubs offers sports clubs in the UK the chance to win grants ranging from £250 to £1000. It is a scheme aimed at giving community clubs a helping hand and provide the opportunity to raise the money they need to invest in their club. The next panel meeting will be in November 2012. Enterprising ideas

The Varsity Pitch Competition Competition rewards UK students and recent graduate entrepreneurs who have enterprising ideas that they wish to turn into viable businesses, enabling them to showcase their unique, innovative and creative ideas to the wider community. Improving Communities

Awards for All England offers grants of between £300 and £10,000 for projects that improve communities, and the lives of people within them. It is for voluntary and community groups, schools and health organisations, parish and town councils. Visit: www.awardsforall.org.uk

Investment readiness

in

Minister for Civil Society Nick Hurd has announced the first awards from the £10 million Investment and Contract Readiness Fund. It has pledged almost £1 million to eight small social ventures to help them scale up and do more for society.  The organisations include Reds10, a social business which supports disadvantaged, young and unemployed people to find jobs and TLG The Education Charity, which has successfully developed unique Alternative Education Provision (AP) for young people at risk of exclusion from school or in crisis.

Loans for young entrepreneurs

The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills has announced that the first wave of business support and loans from the £82.5 million Start-Up Loans scheme for young people is now being distributed. Start-Up Loans will provide budding entrepreneurs between the ages of 18-24 with a range of support, including access to a business mentor and capital, in the region of £2,500, to help get their business idea moving. The Prince's Trust is among the latest list of service providers that will work alongside Start-Up Loans Company. Visit:

BIG Assist

The BIG Assist programme works to deliver quality support to voluntary and community sector infrastructure organisations, both local and specialist, across England. Delivery of this support will be by quality suppliers, who will be approved by an Independent Review Panel. Suppliers who apply prior to 15 October 2012 will be submitted to the first meeting of the Panel, which is scheduled for the week beginning 22 October 2012. Group singing

in

The Youth Music Network has launched a new grant scheme, Excellence through group singing, inspired by their open-access choir programme run during the Olympics. The scheme aims to fund group singing opportunities which develop children and young people's singing and personal skills, regardless of their previous musical experience. Grants of between £10,000 - £50,000 are available and projects must be open to young people from across at least two local authority areas. The deadline for applications is 5.00 pm on 11 October 2012 for first stage applications.

The Prince's Countryside Fund

The Prince's Countryside Fund seeks to address and provide funding to tackle five key issues: Rural Isolation; Decline of Rural communities; Low Farming Incomes; Lack of access to training; and Disconnect with the value of the countryside. SITA Trust Young Persons Volunteering Fund

Grants are available to assist young people aged 14-25 to volunteer their time to create or enhance facilities that can be enjoyed by the wider community. Projects must be located within 10 miles of a landfill site in England and Wales.
