The cycle of unemployment - a Prince's Trust Report

in

The Princes Trust have published a report Destined for the dole? Breaking the cycle of worklessness in the UK from a survey of 2,000 young people from jobless households.

They have found that almost one in five expected to end up on benefits because those around them were and one in four felt their parents did not have the knowledge to help them find work. Professor David G. Blanchflower says that ‘This report investigates the inter-generational culture of worklessness - and how young people feel about growing up in families or communities where few people have jobs. Worryingly, the research suggests that thousands of young people are trapped in a cycle of deprivation, struggling to break out.'
