Fostering and the care system

in

The Fostering Network have written a report Bursting at the Seams: Impact on fostering services of the rise of children going into care 2009-10.

They have found that since the case of Baby Peter's death came to public attention in late 2008 the care system has seen an unprecedented rise in the number of children, particularly those needing foster placements. The care system is now struggling to meet the needs of society's most vulnerable children and it is unsustainable unless more foster carers were recruited and retained.
