The Bursary Award Scheme provides up to £250 per applicant and our target for 2017 is to raise enough funds to provide four more Awards to deserving young people in Lancashire this year.

Featured below: Grant Walker from Skelmersdale, awarded a bursary of £250 used the funds to join the International Citizen Service, organised by Raleigh International, to undertake voluntary work in Africa for 12 weeks. Grant overcame considerable personal challenges and has been able to turn his life around with the support of The Birchwood Centre, based in Skelmersdale. Following his Bursary Award, Grant went on to win Lancashire’s Young Citizen of the Year 2017, in recognition for his work volunteering to rebuild a community in the depths of Africa and transforming local community gardens in Tanhouse.
