Gordon currently works for the Fire Service Inspectorate, having previously been Lancashire’s Chief Fire Officer between 1992/99. Gordon has served as Chairman and trustee of the national fire service charity ‘The Fire Services National Benevolent Fund’ for over ten years working on their finance and general purposes committee. Since 1992 he has also had a long association with Lancashire Outward Bound providing opportunities for young disabled people to experience outdoor adventure. He is currently a Vice President of both Associations.

Gordon supports Young Lancashire and his interest in young people extends to work with the Prince’s Trust Volunteers, development of young fire-fighter associations and various youth community partnerships. Married to Gill with two sons and one daughter, their family home is in Garstang.
