Latest summary of a message on progress towards the Ofsted Children's Services Improvement Plan, from Jo Turton, Chief Executive.

Lancashire County Council Lancashire County Council has continued to receive regular assessments and scrutiny of progress that the county council, along with partners, is making against the Children's Services Improvement Plan

Ofsted quarterly monitoring inspections: The focus for Ofsted during the most recent visit in April has been 'Children Looked After' and 'Care Leavers', with a particular focus on care planning and recognition of and response to risk.

They felt improvements for 'Children Looked After' and 'Care Leavers' have not kept pace with those seen for 'Children in Need of Help and Protection' in previous monitoring visits.

Importantly, inspectors noted that that we have a good understanding of where improvements need to be made and to help achieve these improvements we have already taken a number of actions since the inspection visit.  This includes the development and implementation of a targeted 12 Week Improvement Plan which addresses some of the issues they highlighted.

You can view a summary of notes from the monthly Improvement Board meetings on the County Council's website along with details of plans and priorities.
